Who does Adrian see?

Adrian sees people with digestive problems including IBS, food intolerances and coeliac disease; children with gut or allergy concerns; couples preparing for pregnancy or IVF; and people living with autoimmune conditions, high cholesterol or low mood. Many have long-standing health concerns and have already seen several practitioners.

Adrian doesn’t diagnose or treat these conditions; that stays with your doctor. His part is the nutritional, herbal and lifestyle work that sits alongside their care.

What happens in a first appointment with Adrian?

Expect a full hour. Adrian takes the whole history, reads any pathology you bring, and explains what he thinks is driving the picture before he suggests anything. He looks for four things that commonly sit underneath long-standing symptoms: inflammation, cellular stress, nutrient gaps that don’t suit your genetics, and a nervous system that can’t switch off. You leave with a written plan and the reasoning behind each step.

Does Adrian use functional testing?

Only when it would change the plan. Depending on your history he may suggest gut microbiome, organic acids, functional hormone, food intolerance, methylation and MTHFR, or genetic and nutrition testing, and he’ll explain what each can and can’t tell you before you decide. Testing is billed by the laboratory, not the clinic.

Does Adrian work alongside my GP or specialist?

Yes, and he prefers to. Adrian reads any pathology you bring alongside functional testing, keeps the plan within naturopathic scope, and refers on where a concern belongs elsewhere.

Does Adrian see children?

Yes, for gut and allergy concerns, and alongside a paediatrician where an assessment is under way. Most children’s appointments at the clinic are with Morgan Helmling. A parent or carer comes in with the child; there is nothing invasive in the room.
