Hormone Testing

Hormone testing offers insight into the health and levels of various hormones around the body. Hormones are chemical messengers that travel in your bloodstream and operate on targeted tissues, organs and body systems.

What can hormone testing show?

Hormones help regulate growth and development, metabolism (how your body gets energy from food), sexual function and reproduction, mood, sleep and the stress response. A hormone test shows the pattern across those systems at a point in time, which we read alongside any blood tests your GP has already ordered.

Which hormone tests do you use?

  • Blood (serum) hormone tests, collected at a pathology collection centre.
  • Saliva hormone tests, collected at home with a kit from the laboratory.
  • Urine hormone tests, collected at home with a kit from the laboratory.

We suggest a test only when the result would change the plan, and we explain what it can and can’t tell you before you decide. The laboratory bills you directly at its own price, and you’ll know the cost first. The laboratories we use are NATA accredited.

We don’t diagnose or treat medical conditions; that stays with your doctor. Our part is the nutritional, herbal and lifestyle work that sits alongside their care.
