Naturopathic and nutritional care for skin that keeps flaring, alongside your GP or dermatologist, in Geelong and Drysdale.
We don’t diagnose or treat skin conditions; that stays with your doctor. Our part is the nutritional, herbal and lifestyle work that sits alongside their care.
Acne, eczema, psoriasis and skin that keeps flaring. Digestion, hormones, stress and nutritional status all show up in the skin, so we start underneath the surface: diet, gut symptoms, sleep, stress and the results you already have. Then we build a plan with you, alongside your GP or dermatologist.
When to see your doctor first. A rash that spreads quickly, blisters, weeps or comes with a fever, and a mole or spot that changes, need your GP first. In an emergency, call 000.
Who you’ll see for skin health
Madeline Sheppard leads skin health at Living Holistic Health, working with acne, eczema, psoriasis and other persistent skin concerns.
Her approach starts underneath the surface. Digestion, hormones, stress and nutritional status all show up in the skin, which is why persistent skin concerns so often return when only the surface is addressed. Madeline investigates those underlying drivers first, and works collaboratively with your GP or dermatologist where that is the right course.
Madeline consults from our Geelong CBD and Drysdale clinics, and by telehealth.
Common questions
Can a naturopath help with acne?
We look at what may sit underneath acne for you: hormones, gut health, diet, blood sugar and stress. Any prescription stays with your GP or dermatologist; our part is the food, lifestyle and nutritional work alongside it.
Not with the diagnosis or its medical treatment, which stay with your GP or dermatologist. Alongside that care, naturopathic support for eczema and psoriasis looks at gut health, food triggers and inflammation. We will not ask you to stop or change a cream or medicine your doctor has prescribed.
What causes skin issues that naturopathy might help address?
Skin issues frequently relate to gut health, hormone balance, nutrient status, stress and food sensitivities. A naturopath can help investigate which of these may be relevant for you through testing and a detailed health history.
For many people diet plays a meaningful role in skin health, particularly for inflammatory conditions. A naturopath can help identify potential trigger foods and build a sustainable, nutrient-dense eating pattern.
Do you see children with eczema?
Yes. Children’s appointments are usually with Morgan Helmling, in Geelong, Drysdale or by telehealth. A parent or carer comes in with the child and we look at diet, sleep, gut symptoms and possible food intolerances. Suspected food allergy, the kind that causes hives, swelling or breathing trouble, stays with your GP or an allergist.
Do I need a referral to see a naturopath for skin concerns?
No. You can book directly online or by phone, in Geelong, Drysdale or by telehealth. If your GP or dermatologist has ordered recent blood tests, bring the results.
