Naturopathy for gut health in Geelong

Bloating, IBS, reflux, food intolerances and inflammatory bowel disease all bring people to us. We look at what sits underneath the symptom, test only where it would change the plan, and work alongside your GP or gastroenterologist.

We don’t diagnose or treat medical conditions; that stays with your doctor. Our part is the nutritional, herbal and lifestyle work that sits alongside their care.

Can a naturopath help with IBS or bloating?

A naturopath can look into the drivers that often sit under IBS and bloating, such as food intolerances, an imbalanced gut microbiome and stress, and build a plan around diet, targeted testing and lifestyle change. That work sits alongside your GP or gastroenterologist, never in place of them.

Common questions

What happens at a first gut health appointment?

A first appointment runs for 60 minutes. We go through your history, what you’ve already tried, your diet, sleep and stress, and the results your GP or specialist already has, then explain the plan and the reasoning behind each step. Follow-ups are 30 minutes, and that is where the plan is reviewed and adjusted.

What tests do you use for gut health?

Depending on your symptoms we may suggest a comprehensive stool and microbiome analysis, food intolerance testing or organic acids testing, read alongside the pathology your GP has already ordered. Testing is suggested only when the result would change the plan, and it is billed directly by the laboratory. Allergy (IgE) testing stays with your GP.

How long until gut symptoms improve?

It varies with the cause and how long it has been there, so we do not promise a timeline. Some people notice a change within a few weeks of adjusting their diet; long-standing or complex gut concerns usually need a staged plan. We review how you respond at each follow-up and adjust the plan from there.

Do I need a referral to see a naturopath for gut health?

No. You can book directly online or by phone. If you have had scopes, stool tests or blood work through your GP or gastroenterologist, bring the results; they shape the plan and often save you repeating a test.

Is it the food, or is it your gut bacteria?
